What We Have Been Up To

Last week, we started doing Math Workstations and Sight Word Workstations. Math Workstations are about 15-20 minutes and include 4 different groups. The students get to work on different math skills for each workstation. For example, the first rotations were included: addition, subtraction, & counting/sorting with math tubs. This is a great way for us to expand on the learning that we do during Whole Group Math.

Sight Word Workstations also involve 4 different rotations that last 15-20 min. These stations are more independent than our math stations. We have games, writing, practicing, and building for a lot of these stations. For our first rotations we had: Rainbow Writing, Roll and Write, Sentence Building, and  Catch the Sight Words (game). We also worked very hard to get all of our sight words cut out and put into baggies, so that we can use them here at school.

Yesterday and today, we worked on making a Jolly Phonics poster to take home. The JP sounds on this poster are the more difficult sound that we work with. On the posters, there is a picture and a word to match the sound.

Here are some pics!
