Letter A Post- Apps!

One of my favorite things to do is to find great apps to share with the kids in the room! This year, I am struggling to find time to do this, so I figured that "Apps" for a blog post would work well for everyone! Some of these apps I have tried and some I have not, but they are ones I will be using. Most of them do cost money, but they are fairly cheap. If you would like a list of some free ones, let me know. Hope you enjoy them!

Brainzy- this is actually a website that I came across and I think it looks awesome! I can't wait to try it here at school!

ABC Mouse- there is an app and this is online. This is a website that you may see on tv. I used it in preschool for the songs and the kids really enjoyed it.

Toca Builder- This is one of my all time favorites. Toca has a bunch of different apps, but I have used this one in the past. It always makes me think of Mine Craft.

Moose Math- This has a lot of different math skills on it and the graphics are very catching.

Kiko's Thinking Time- This is more for the cognitive learning that our little ones need. It challenges them in different ways and I think it looks like a lot of fun.

Splash Math- This app has a few different math skills on it and it's FREE!

Reading Raven- I struggle with finding apps that are strictly reading and that actually have books on them. This app is another one that I haven't tried, but I really want to try it here at school.

Gappy's First Words- I like this one for sentence building and the kids really get to use those Jolly Phonics sounds to create words.

I hope you all find these useful! Let me know if there is a certain area that you are looking for an app or website. Not only can I help, but there are other teachers here that are great with this stuff!

Hickety Pickety Bumblebee

Here is a short clip of some sight word practice today. This is our favorite way to practice! I would be happy to print this off for anyone that is interested in doing this at home!

My Post Thanksgiving Goal!

I have not been very good at blogging lately! This happened to me last year too :-( I have a goal to blog more after Thanksgiving break and I am going to have some sort of theme with my blog posts. My plan is to go in alphabetical order and have each of my posts relate to that letter. So, after Thanksgiving, I will start with letter A! Hope you all enjoy!

Conferences
I hope that everyone has scheduled their conference. If not, please call and get that scheduled. Report cards will be coming home very soon!

Looking Ahead...
Keystone's holiday program will be Friday, December 4th at 7:00 pm. It should be a great show! Mrs. Galligan does great work with the kids! On Wednesday, December 23rd, we will get out at 1:00 and we will see you after the holidays on Monday, January 4th!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email or call the school!

Veteran's Day Program

We truly have one of the best Veteran's Day programs! It sure makes me proud to be a part of this community. Even though our kinders don't understand it completely, they learn so much. They were very respectful at the program and they were very proud to show off what they have been practicing in music class. Kudos to the BC Elementary music teachers for their hard work!

Veteran's Day

I have not posted in a while and I apologize for that! We will be attending the Veteran's Day program at the high school on Wednesday. The program starts at 9:30. This is a great program that our school does every year and if you can make it, you should. Happy Veteran's Day!

These Kinders have been KRAZY busy!!

On Thursday, last week, we got to join Mrs. Fisher's class to do a Pumpkin Investigation. We have been discussing a pumpkin life cycle and this was a great way to extend our learning. Today, the kinders got to try out Maker Space for the first time! This was their goal for getting 3 golden tickets!

Happy Birthday Larissa!

Fire Safety

We had the Keystone Fire Department visit today. Patrick shared some fire safety information with us and we got to see the equipment in the fire truck. I will be sending information through email about an opportunity to win a prize from the fire department.

Classroom Info

Take Home Books
These are the books that come home in the ziploc bag. These are for your kinder to read to/with you at night. They can be returned daily, or whenever you get them read.

Library Books
These have a bar code on the front. We go to the library once a week, usually. They can be returned whenever they get read as well.

Take Home Folders
Please remember to check these nightly. Every once in a while, I will tell the kids that if they do a certain activity at home and send me a picture, they will get a prize. They work really hard at school and if you think these things are important, so will your child.

Bloomsbury Farm

What a PERFECT day for Bloomsbury Farm! We had a great time! I took more pictures, but the transfer from phone to computer isn't working so well and rest time is almost over! Hopefully over the weekend, I can get some more up!

Homecoming!

We didn't get to see a parade, but we sure had fun at the pep rally! Here are a couple pictures. Craig got to play a game with some other Benton students.
